Why

Despite the cultural impact of music videos, the creative process behind them often remains overlooked or difficult to find. From direction, choreography, set design and editing, much of the work that supports the final production tends to go unrecognized by wider audiences. There was a need for a platform that not only preserves the creative process but also commends and shares it in a way that inspires collaboration.

How

The project began with the development of a brand identity that captured the platform’s purpose and tone. Next, a visual identity was established to reflect the dynamic nature of music videos while maintaining readability and structure. Finally, brand guidelines were created to ensure visual consistency and support future content expansion.

Process

Development involved extensive research to understand the needs of both the target audience and the platform’s goals. The branding and visual identity were designed to ensure a cohesive user experience across all touchpoints. Key decisions focused on balancing educational content with engaging visuals, resulting in a platform that feels both inviting and professional.

The concept drew from isometric illustrations to represent depth and complexity, reflecting the brand’s focus on perception and the layered nature of music video production. Ultimately, the design was scrapped for leaning too heavily toward music over music videos.

A clapperboard was chosen for its wide recognition as a symbol of video production, particularly focusing on its iconic white stripes. However, its boxy shape and the small text’s ineffectiveness led to the design being scrapped and later reworked.
